Laura McWilliams

Chairperson

I’m delighted to have been elected the Chair of the LWGFL committee and look forward to working on a successful league that provides support for all involved. I have a real passion for equality particularly within football and will champion ensuring there is positive opportunity for women within the game, both on and off the field. I am no stranger in terms of the day to day running of a football club, having been the women’s team secretary at Hykeham Town and now having a place on the executive board at Lincoln United Football Club. Outside of football I work closely supporting my local community and hope to replicate those skills in my role as LWGFL chair.

Vice-Chair & League Welfare Officer

I have played for Lincoln City Ladies, Gainsborough Trinity LFC, Scunthorpe United LFC and Sleaford Town LFC. I have been lucky to play at a reasonable standard of the female game, playing in the FA Cup, winning the County cup, amongst other league and cup competitions. I am a Level 2 coach and have been coaching since a young age of 14, coaching all age groups from Under 7s to the adult game.  I have mostly coached girls and female teams, however have coach numerous boys teams in this time. Two seasons ago I set out to get girls football back at my hometown club Sleaford Town, working alongside other agencies I have managed to maintain a Wildcats centre, and create 5  girls teams and see high numbers attend throughout the season. I have a real passion to promote the female and girls football to make it possible can here in Lincolnshire. I have been able to encourage, develop young females in their coaching roles and alongside into the refereeing world.

“I am currently an active level 4 referee and I have been refereeing for the last 7 years after quickly realising I’d never make it as a player! I am keen to support the growth and development of the female game for both players and officials.”

I have been involved in football from a very young age, playing, refereeing, coaching and managing. From the age of 18 I started coaching, I went to America for a year where I found the love for the game again, now 8 years later I have had so many great experiences across every aspect of the game, Mini’s, Youth football, Women’s football, Girls football, Disability football and Adults football at a range of Clubs around Lincolnshire Gainsborough Trinity, Nettleham, and Lincoln City as well as been the Head of football Development at Gainsborough Trinity Foundation. I feel I bring a lot of experience not just within football but with the ever-growing female game to the LWGFL Committee.

Club Representative - West

I’m thrilled to be in a position to play an active role in the direction the new league setup goes in. It’s a very exciting project to be a part of. I have been involved heavily with football development, to include community coaching programs in local schools and providing workshops for recreational parent-volunteer coaches. I will bring a well-rounded insight from a coaching, refereeing and playing perspective to the league committee, having been involved in all three.
