LWGFL Update

Hello,

I thought the Christmas break would be the perfect opportunity to be able to give a quick update from the league.

We have seen plenty of fixtures, goals, and enjoyment from the girls and women’s league so far, this is credit to the players, parents, coaches, and clubs providing the football for all.

From now till the end of the season we have made some adjustments to some of our officers’ roles. With this we want the clubs to contact the right person for the right enquiry so with this I will provide the committee members below and highlight the enquires they are able to help with:

U18’s

We as a league understand that there has been a lack of fixtures at this age group, we are unable to make teams play fixtures.  We as a league are working with teams and the fixtures officer is looking at trying to sort the fixtures out in a way that you end up playing more football than teams are doing.  On this we as a league will be looking to hold a tournament with a neighbouring county FA in the New Year. We understand this is not ideal, but we hope it is better then weeks of no football at all, we ask for you all to bear with us in this.

SAFEGUARDING

There is a new safeguarding online workshop that parents are encouraged to complete, to find the course please look on The FA Boot room learning page for more details.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all for your commitment so far through the season, a massive thank you to the committee as well from me for the hours they put in to help run the league.

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2023 to each one of you.

Yours in Sport

Silent Support Weekend

This weekend actions speak louder than words. We’re joining in with the first National Silent Support Weekend to promote Respect in Youth Football, and our teams and clubs will play an important part.

We’re encouraging spectators and coaches to show their support during the match through applause only.  This will reduce pressure and confusion and give players a better opportunity to find their own voice and develop their game.

So, all you have to do is not talk, you can applaud good play from both teams, and then tell us your thoughts about the experience so we can feed into a national campaign to make improvements for the future. A digital link to a survey will be shared after the weekend for you to fill in to collect this information.

Join us and play your part on Silent Support Weekend 25th and 26th of February 2023.

LWGFL Online CPD Course

On Monday 30th January 2023, the Lincolnshire Women and Girls League will host an online CPD workshop for all coaches in the league. The title of this workshop is The Match Day Experience – Looking at the Impact of High Scoring Games. The Lincolnshire Women and Girls Football League is in its fourth season of delivery and has seen considerable growth in that time. This growth has been spurred on by the increase of coverage and popularity of the women’s game Nationally, and specifically the Lionesses’ victory in the summer. While we are thrilled with the growth of the game in Lincolnshire, we understand that we still face many challenges in ensuring that our league is fit for purpose for all who participate in it. Quite often in girls’ football, there is inconsistency and variation in ability of the girl’s teams in the League. As a result of this, the League often sees large score lines and goal differences in many of its age groups. Naturally, this is frustrating for those teams that sit at the top or the bottom of those leagues. The LWGFL Committee would like to offer coaches in our league a CPD workshop that looks at the impact of high scoring games in Girls Football. We would like to have an open and honest conversation with the players and coaches on both sides of this situation, as well as start to look at some solutions and ways to work with the climate we have. The aim of this CPD will be to put the player at the heart of the conversation and look at how we can keep our female players happy, engaged, challenged, and wanting to stay in the game.

We hope to see as many of our coaches there as possible.
